Patrick Sheehy joined IBC following a national security and defense fellowship with Congressman John Shimkus (IL-15), where he worked on issues involving Eastern Europe, the NATO alliance and Russia. Patrick was also an intern with USTR’s Congressional Affairs office and participated in the Administration’s work to win approval of Trade Promotion Authority. Additionally, he previously served as an intern with CSIS’s Strategic Technologies Program and the State Department’s United Nations Policy office.
Patrick graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington. While there, he completed an honors thesis examining the effect of information and communications technology on the formation and execution of revolutionary movements. Patrick also represented the University at the 2014 Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference, where he presented research examining the claim that modern technology has benefited the individual over the state.
