Government Relations Counsellor
Melissa Kinter acts as an advocate on behalf of IBC clients and is the organization’s eyes and ears on Capitol Hill. Prior to joining IBC, she represented member companies at the Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT). While at ECAT, Melissa was an active member of coalitions that worked to pass Trade Promotion Authority, to support negotiations of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, to support negotiations of the WTO Environmental Goods Agreement, and to advocate for the end of the Cuban embargo. In additional, ECAT served as a co-leader of the U.S. Coalition for TPP, where Melissa took active roles in the Policy Communications, Diplomatic, and Legislative working groups.
Melissa also has experience helping U.S. companies export their goods and services to the Irish market from her internship at the Dublin office of the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service.
Melissa graduated from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce with concentrations in marketing and international business and earned First Class Honours in obtaining a Masters in International Business at University College Dublin (UCD). While at UCD, she completed a thesis which investigated the most effective promotion strategy that would attract private investment to South Africa’s infrastructure and agribusiness sectors.
