Chris Benscher acts as an advocate on behalf of IBC clients and is the organization’s eyes and ears on Capitol Hill. Chris has eighteen years of experience promoting trade agreements and encouraging market access in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining IBC, Chris advised companies on the impact of the trade war for Bloomberg Intelligence. This followed his work as international government affairs manager for Halliburton energy services where Chris promoted trade standards and petitioned governments to increase market access for goods and services across more than ninety countries.
From 2001 through 2011, Chris was a Congressional Liaison Officer at the Australian Embassy. In this role, Chris lobbied Congress towards passage of the U.S.-Australia Free Trade Agreement and Defense Trade Cooperation Treaty.
Chris graduated from the University of Sydney with a Masters Degree in International Relations and from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Arts.
